MILLBURY – A. Alan Kobel, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 13th, the Birthday of his wife of 63 years, Claire P. (Benoit) Kobel who passed in 2016.
Alan leaves three children, Keith Kobel of Worcester, Mark Kobel and his wife Jill (Keith) of Holden, and Craig Kobel and his wife Dorothy (Moore) of Holden: three grandchildren, Matthew Kobel of Berlin, Kevin Kobel of Holden and Joshua Kobel and his wife, Tara (Corriveau) of Holland; two great grandchildren, Tyler and Kaiden. Alan is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ida (Morton) Kobel and six siblings.
Alan was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for 30 years as a machinist at George Myers and then Astra Pharmaceuticals before retiring. Alan was always working on cars, which included building engines for his brother’s stock car racing cars. He enjoyed watching and attending auto races and his family compete in motorcycle hill climb competitions.
Alan was a long-time parishioner of St. Brigid Church and a member of the choir with Claire for over 30 years. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends will honor and remember Alan’s life with a time of visitation on Thursday, July 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
His Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, July 16th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Entombment will follow at Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
