Alan G. Quist, "Unca Boo", 67 lost his eight month battle with cancer on November 15, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Caribou, ME to Mildred A. Quist & Gunner Quist, he grew up in Millbury and lived most of his life in Worcester County after serving in the Navy. Alan worked for over 30 years as a diesel mechanic at Independent Truck Co. in Shrewsbury. After retiring from Independent in 2010 he moved to Longview, TX with his niece, Tiffany Graves, her fiancé, Anthony McClung and their two children, Jackson and Dallas to help care for the children.
Alan enjoyed car shows, NASCAR races and even restored a 66" Mustang that placed in the top ten at the Summer Nationals in Worcester. He really enjoyed spending his free time taking his great niece and nephew swimming, to the "duck pond" or just "goofing around" in the backyard. He had an uncanny ability to keep kids entertained for hours with any simple object lying around.
Alan's graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23rd in Central Cemetery in Millbury. There are no calling hours.
