MILLBURY – Albert L. Graves, 87, died Friday, Feb. 2nd in his home, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Joan M. (McSherry) Graves; a daughter, Joanne Cronkhite of Millbury; two sons, Thomas C. Graves and his wife, Gail of Worcester and Albert W. Graves of Millbury; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Cameron, Kelsey, and Adam Graves and Kimberly Oslowski and Maghan Cronkhite; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Eileen Eramo of Millbury and Margaret Dahlstrom of Grafton; one brother, James Graves of Sutton; a sister-in-law, Ann O’Brien of Holden; nephews and nieces. He was born in Millbury and is predeceased by his parents, William and Irene (Callaghan) Graves and three brothers and three sister.
He worked for 17 years for H.P. Hood Company and then 17 years at Nensco in Millbury, before he retired. He was a former fire fighter in Millbury, Engine # 3. He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean War, serving in Germany and was a member of the Devoe Taylor American Legion Post #9 in Millbury. He enjoyed woodworking and sports, especially attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sports games.
Family and friends will honor and remember Alberts’s life by gathering for calling hours on Wednesday, Feb.7th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, in Millbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday Feb. 8th at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
