MILLBURY – Alderic J. "Tick" Melanson, 94, died Saturday, March 7th at the Falmouth Hospital in Falmouth.
His wife, Alice E. (Wissell) Melanson died in 1985. He leaves two daughters, Carol E. wife of Francis Sheehan of Sandwich and Kathleen A. wife of Charles G. Kleiza of Oxford; two grandchildren, Shelley Garcia of Bristol, RI and Jared Kleiza of Worcester; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Grafton and is predeceased by his parents Edward and Madeline (Allain) Melanson, a sister, Adela Perris, three brothers, Frank, Henry and Arthur Melanson.
Mr. Melanson worked at the former New England High Carbon Wire Co. in Millbury for 34 years, retiring in 1974. He was a Civil Defense Coordinator for Millbury during WW II and he was a Ham Radio operator. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting and photography. He was a member of the Greendale Men's Club Chorus.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, March 11th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Mass at 2 p.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Millbury Seniors, One River St., Millbury, MA 01527.
