MILLBURY Alexander H. Dempsey Jr., 75, of 211 Riverlin St., died Tuesday, Aug. 21st in his home, after an illness.

His wife, Shirley C. (Saucier) Dempsey, died last year. He leaves five children, Barry P. Dempsey of Lowell, Eric W. Dempsey of Worcester, Jeffrey D. Dempsey of Millbury, Kathy L. Hale of Millbury and Debra J. Rano of Millbury; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jillian, Stephanie, Samantha, Brian and Tyler; two brothers, William Dempsey of FL and Paul Dempsey of Bolton; a sister, Gloria Hollup-Waite of Cherry Valley; nephews and nieces. He was born in Rutland and is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Annie (Plummer) Dempsey as well as four brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Dempsey worked at Nensco Inc. for 38 years. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and was an active member and past Commander of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post and a member of the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25th in Central Cemetery, West and Waters St., Millbury. The Charles F. Minney Post will conduct a ritual at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a ritual by the Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
