WORCESTER / SUTTON - Alfred F. "Pete" Charest, 91, formally of Worcester before moving
to Sutton in 2008, died peacefully Monday March 6th surrounded by his loving family at Care one at Millbury, after a short battle with Pneumonia.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Shirley "Pat" M. (Mayo) Charest, of 67 years this coming July 1st; four daughters, Deborah A Fuller and her husband, Richard of Boylston, Cindy A. King and her husband, TA of Sutton, with whom he lived, Pamela A. Garnevich of Charlton and Lisa A. Moon and her husband, Mark of Whitinsville; ten grandchildren, Michelle Yeaw, Brian Fuller, Britney King, Joshua King, Jairus King, John Garnevich, Jennifer Ordaz, Kyle Moon, Ethan Moon and Jacob Moon; five great grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest and his wife, Marjorie of FL, Donat Charest of Conway, MA; a sister, Rita Kelly of SC. He was born in Bloomfield, VT and is predeceased by his parents, Doric and Agnes (Girard) Charest and a grandson, Michael Garnevich.
After 30 years, he retired from St. Vincent Hospital in 1994 as an HV/AC mechanic. He then became a property manager for several properties. In addition, to his full-time position, he owned and operated AC Garage -VW Repairs, for almost 35 years. He was honorably discharged with multiple decorations as an Army Veteran of World War II serving in Germany/France with Company C 3rd Infantry regiment. His favorite things were many years of family camping trips, working in his workshop, lobstering in Maine, clam digging on Cape Cod, his Red Truck, mowing with his John Deere Tractor, and mostly he will be remembered by his family as their "go to person" to fix anything!
His calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday March 10th at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St in Millbury. His Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Sat. March 11th at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main St in Worcester. Private burial at a later date.
