Millbury – Allen A. Williams, 84, died July 22 in Millbury Care One Facility.
He is pre-deceased by his wife of 50 years Patricia A. (Prindle) Williams in 2012.
He leaves his son James A. Williams and daughter-in-law Cynthia C. (Patricks) Williams of Millbury; three grandchildren, Anna M. (Harshaw) Lomatire of Kannapolis, N.C., Kati L. Greenberg of Shrewsbury, and Jacob A. Williams of Millbury. He also leaves 2 great-grandchildren Anthony J. Lomartire III of Kannapolis, NC and Lily A. Wade of Shrewsbury.
Allen was born in Worcester the son of Roger E. Williams and Helen M. (Young) Williams. His sister Nancy H. Pacanowski pre-deceased him 1996. He grew up in Auburn and attended Auburn High School. Mr. Williams proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He moved to Dorothy Pond in Millbury in the early 60’s. He worked at New England High Carbon Wire in Millbury for several years and retired from UMASS Memorial Hospital in 1999 where he worked as a First-Class Fireman running the heating and cooling units at the Memorial Campus. He loved to sail and was a member of the Sea Scouts. In addition, he was an avid bird watcher and train enthusiast. Some of his train videos are featured in different film productions about trains of New England. When not out train watching, he could be found in his yard on Dorothy Pond turning his compost pile and tending his flowers and garden with his grandkids or visiting his neighbors on his riding lawnmower.
Family and friends will honor and remember Allen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, July 26th from 5 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. After cremation Allen’s funeral service and burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 4th at Noon in Central Cemetery, Millbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Dorothy Pond Watershed Association, 9 Pond Terrace, Millbury MA 01527. The Dorothy Pond Watershed Association is a 501C3 private nonprofit corporation.
