MILLBURY Ambrose A. Lebel, 88, of 112 Wheelock Ave., died Thursday, March 22nd in Millbury Health Care Center.
He leaves his wife, Leona A. (Morin) Lebel; a daughter, Carol Ann Lebel of Worcester; four sons, Leonard A. Lebel of Boston, John A. Lebel of Worcester, Kenneth A. Lebel and Richard A. Lebel both of Millbury; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Millbury and is predeceased by his parents, John A. and Louise (Adams) Lebel and a sister, Doris Tarckini and two brothers, Arthur and Lawrence Lebel.
Mr. Lebel spent two years from 1941 to 1943, at Pearl Harbor, as a welder for the Federal Government and was awarded for his brave and efficient action during the attack on the fleet in Pearl Harbor. He also worked at the former Pullman Standard in Worcester for five years before and after Pearl Harbor. He then was a pipefitter and welder for the local Union #4 in Worcester before he retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and the Millbury Golden Age. His hobbies were flying his own plane and fishing.
His funeral will be held Monday, March 26th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 25th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Activity Fund, Shrewsbury Unit, in care of the Millbury Health Care Center, 312 Millbury Ave., Millbury, MA 01527.
