Andrew J. Cammuso, 82, passed away on Saturday January 2, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital after suffering a sudden stroke four days earlier. He was continuously surrounded by family during his final days and died peacefully and without suffering.
Andrew was born on Croyden Street in Millbury, son of Frank and Jennie (Monfreda) Cammuso, and lived on Croyden Street all his life. The neighborhood will not be the same without him but his spirit will always be there.
He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Norma E. (Keith) Cammuso. He leaves two sons, Andrew V. Cammuso and his wife, Anne Marie of Millbury and Anthony Cammuso and his wife, Christine of Holden as well as his 6 grandchildren: Melissa (Mathews) DuBois, Marlena Mathews, Roger, Ashley, Cara and Nicholas Cammuso and their significant others and one great grandson, Pierce. He is also survived by his sister Rosalie Bennes of Shrewsbury and brothers, Frank and his wife Connie of Millbury, Nicholas of Sterling and Albert and his wife Jacqueline of Worcester as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters Philamena Felice and Frances Ciampaglia and by his brothers George, Paul and Angelo.
He was a welder by trade and worked for many years at J&D Truck but retired as a beloved custodian at Blackstone Valley Technical High School in Upton. Never one to sit still for long, he spent his retirement years working at the town barn in Millbury.
He enjoyed fixing cars, maintaining his yard, watching NASCAR, entertaining at his home and pool, taking everyone out to dinner, supervising backyard projects, spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He was a faithful husband, devoted son, dependable sibling and friend, loving father and grandfather and a hardworking, kind and generous man. He will be deeply missed by many.
Calling hours will be held at Mulhane Home for Funerals at 45 N Main St, Millbury on Wednesday Jan. 6th from 6 to 9 p.m.
His funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Archway Inc., 77 Mulberry Street, Leicester, MA 01524, serving children and adults with autism.
