MILLBURY – Anita Habenstreit, 100, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, July 21st.
Anita was predeceased by her husband William Habenstreit, son Michael Habenstreit, great-grandson Edwin Smith-Rivera, parents Alfred Durand and Corine (Deschene) Durand, her siblings Alice Lapan, Irene St. George, Rose Gamarche and Albert Durand and several nieces and nephews.
She leaves her beloved granddaughter Nicole Smith, her great grandchildren Evelyn Rivera and Alex Rivera, nephews Roger St. George, William Lapan, John Lapan, niece Barbara (Lapan) Record and great nieces Linda (St. George) Mancini, Nancy (St. George) Whittier, Barbara-Jean (St. George) Chauvin, Gina (Lapan) Dennis and many other nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Anita was born and raised in Millbury and lived there for the majority of her life, having lived also in Pompano Beach Florida for several years. She loved her granddaughter Nicole and great-children Evelyn and Alex fiercely. Anita loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved her dogs and would often been seen driving them around town dressed up with a coat and hat. She loved bingo and spoke often of her memories taking road trips to Foxwoods. Anita was deeply dedicated to the catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
Family and friends will remember and celebrate Anita’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, August 4th from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury. Her funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
