Anne Rita (Hebert) Pierce, 92, died Monday, Sept. 28th in the Millbury Health Care Center in Millbury.
She leaves a daughter, Joan Bernier, wife of Robert, of Dunedin FL; a sister, Constance Hopkins of LeHigh Acres, FL; 5 grandchildren, Andrew Pierce of Bourne, Christopher Pierce of Auburn, Scott Bernier of Millbury, and her 2 special granddaughters Maureen Dodakian of Shrewsbury and Karen Murray of Millbury who lovingly cared for her in her final years. She also leaves 3 step-grandchildren, Sandra Rhodes of Roanoke, VA, Jennifer Cote of Auburn and William Horgan of Hadley; 10 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren, who all claim to being her favorite; several nieces and nephews, including a close niece, Barbara Daigneault of Sutton. She is predeceased by her husband, Francis Pierce who died in 1987; a son, Gerald Pierce; two brothers, Arthur Hebert and Rene Hebert; four sisters, Cecile Hebert, Anita Gasco, Lucille Dauderis, Theresa Dumas; her parents, Herve and Alice (Trottier) Hebert.
Rita worked at Millbury High School as a cafeteria worker for 24 years. She loved playing bingo and was an avid jigsaw puzzle maker. She spent many enjoyable hours watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren at their varied sporting events, dance recitals and music concerts.
The family would like to extend their warm thanks to the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice and Millbury Healthcare Center for their loving and gentle care.
Rita's funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 3rd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Mass at 10 a.m. in the church of the Assumption, 10 Waters St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2nd in the funeral home. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Millbury HealthCare Center Activity Fund, 312 Millbury Ave., Millbury, MA 01527.
