MILLBURY – Anthony E. "Tony" Army, 70, died Saturday December 24, 2011 in his home, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife, Helena "Lee" M. (Blash) Army; a brother, James F. Army and his wife Rosemary of Millbury; many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Ernest E. and Rita L. (Army) Army.
Tony was an Engineer for the Mass. Department of Public Works at the Belmont St. Worcester office for 25 years, retiring in 2006 and was a former Millbury fire fighter for many years, retiring in 1977. He was a Navy veteran during the Vietnam War, a member of Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post in Sutton, the Charles F. Minney VFW Post in Millbury, the Knights of Columbus in South Grafton, the Worcester Lodge of Elks #243 in Worcester, a life member of the Singletary Rod & Gun Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, North Rustico, PEI Canada, and a former member of the Calabreze Club in Worcester. He also attended the annual banquet of the Millbury Old Timers.
Tony's funeral will be held Thursday, Dec. 29th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 28th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Veterans will conduct a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at the calling hours.
