Arend Nieuwenhoff

November 28, 1919 — February 12, 2005

SUTTON Arend "Anrold" N. Nieuwenhoff, 85, of 16 Heritage Road, died Saturday, Feb. 12th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.

He was the loving husband of Wanda M. (Arnberg) Nieuwenhoff, who died in 1993. He will be sadly missed by his daughter and son in law, Linda and JohnieWatkins of Charlton; nine grandchildren, Tracy Dion of Uxbridge, Sheri Nieuwenhoff of Southbridge, Tina Bombria of Warren, Cindy Lamica of Dudley, Melissa Jolly of Charlton, Tami Hale of Worcester, Corrie Nieuwenhoff of Southbridge, Drew Nieuwenhoff of Southbridge, and Matthew Nieuwenhoff of Southbridge, 14 great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a son, Richard Nieuwenhoff who died last year and his campanion for the last several years, Gloria LeBeau , who died last month. He was born in Silverdale, PA, son of John and Barbara (van derVlies) Nieuwenhoff and lived in Worcester and Holden before moving to Sutton in 1969.

Mr. Nieuwenhoff was a draftsman and machinist for Heald Machine Company in Worcester for 43 years before he retired. He was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. Arnold was an avid amateur astronomer and a past president of the Aldrich Astronomical Society for many years, starting their newsletter in 1958. He enjoyed model trains and was a member of several railroad clubs. Mr. Nieuwenhoff was also a member of the Grafton and Sutton Senior Centers.

His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
