MILLBURY – Arlene Ann (Parella) Army, 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Dec. 19th after a brief illness.
Arlene leaves three daughters, Sharon Frappier and her husband, Matthew of Millbury, Gina Quinlivan and her husband, Joseph of Oakham and Jennifer Warner and her husband, Brooks of Bainbridge Island, Washington; five grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Erin, Nicholas, and Lani; a brother, Frank Parella of Grafton and a sister, Jeannie Marshall of Rockport, ME; many nieces, nephews and many loving cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anette Parella and a brother, Richard Parella.
Arlene was born in Worcester Massachusetts and lived in Millbury most of her life. She graduated Millbury Memorial high school in 1965 and married Michael B Army soon after. She was a member of the bowling community for more than 50 years, first working and bowling at Grafton Lanes, then at Auburn 10 Pin. She was all events champion at the 1987 WIBC in Hartford Connecticut. More recently, she retired as manager at Auburn 10 Pin but remained active on several leagues and bowling with grandson Matthew. In the spring of 2022 with her long-time bowling partner and close friend Lisa Petrone, they won the Massachusetts State Championship in doubles.
Arlene was also very active with the MA Chapter of Special Olympics volunteering her time and supporting grandson Matthew.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember Arlene’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Thursday, Dec. 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 23rd at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, an hour of visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
