MILLBURY – Barbara F. (Braney) Wood Blavackas, 90, died Saturday, June 13th in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
Her 1st husband, John E. Wood died 1971 and her 2nd husband, Joseph D. Blavackas died in 1998. She leaves two sons, Paul E. Wood and David J. Wood both of Millbury; a daughter, Susan F. Arrington of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; two sisters, Kathleen Ledoux and Alice H. Nordstrom, both of Millbury; a brother, James Braney of Uxbridge; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her parents, Urban L. and Elizabeth A. (Smith) Braney, a brother, William Braney and a sister, Joan Brady.
Barbara worked a Buck Brother in Millbury for many years, before she retired and was a board member of the Millbury Housing Authority for many years. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post and the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Brigid Church where she recently received their Top Hat award.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday, June 17th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 16th in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St., Millbury, MA 01527.
