WORCESTER – Barbara A. (Balcius) Chicky, 72, died Sunday, Nov. 16th in her home, surrounded by her family.
Barbara leaves behind her husband, Kenneth, with whom she celebrated her 51st wedding anniversary in August, and her son, Ronald. Her father, Frank Balcius, predeceased her. She leaves behind her mother, Anne Balcius, of Worcester; her brother, Peter Balcius, of AZ; her niece Lynn Lucente and her husband Cliff; her nephews Mark Balcius and his wife Alana, of AZ, Paul Spyrka and Alberto (Tico) Antuna; cousins, among which are Dorothy Degon, Vin Kosakowski, Petra Gentile, Jackie Swedis and his wife Pauline; grandnieces and grandnephews, and other cousins.
Barbara was a graduate of Commerce High in Worcester and worked at various places including Gilman Brothers, Guaranty Bank, and the Millbury Credit Union. She was a wonderful piano player and loved listening to polkas and dancing to them with her husband. She enjoyed playing bingo and Foxwoods slots, and would spend time at home playing solitaire on the computer. Barbara was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed watching the games with her husband and son. She would out-fish her hubby whenever they went fishing. Barbara especially enjoyed talking and being with people, spending time on her front porch practically every day chatting with neighbors and people passing by. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21st in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
