SUTTON - Barbara Elizabeth (Doran) Valutkevich, age 81, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Barbara was born November 2, 1940 to the late John and Mary (Kelley) Doran of Brighton, as the second of three children – the late William Doran of Brockton, and John “Jack” Doran of Marion. A graduate of Our Lady Help of Christians high school in Newton and Boston College, she married John Valutkevich of Stoughton on September 14, 1968, settling in Natick to start a family, moving to Framingham in 1976 as the family grew, and then in 2004 to Sutton. She took great pride in raising a family, consisting of three sons and a daughter. Dedicated to her Catholic faith, she was active in her church parishes, teaching CCD and engaging in social events. She was a beloved preschool teacher, known as “Mrs. V”, for almost 20 years in Framingham at Jonathan House and Circle of Friends, and also substituted in the Sutton school system. Barbara loved to travel, whether on family vacations, or with John combining business trips with pleasure, taking cruises through global points of interest, road trips to spend winter in Florida, and one- or two-night getaways to a quiet bed and breakfast on Cape Cod or in Vermont. Taking up both golf and skiing with John later in life, she truly enjoyed what life had to offer. A green thumb in her own right, she was an active member of the Sutton Garden Club, where she found joy providing her touch of beauty for the community.
Vibrant, loving, and mighty in spirit, she was a light in the life of all she met. A cheerleader in high school and for her family throughout her life, she is missed by many. In addition to husband John, sister-in-law Marge of Everett, and brother Jack and his wife Dorie, she is survived by sons, John and his wife Marie of Shrewsbury, Mark and his wife Christine of Hopkinton, Stephen and his wife Erin of Franklin, daughter Suzanne of Sutton, eight grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
