Beatrice "Bea" I. (Blais) Stolberg of Millbury died peacefully in Millbury Health Care Center on September 20, 2013 after a long illness.
Bea's husband, Lt. (RET.) James H. Stolberg, Jr. died in 2009. She is survived by daughter, Donna L. Conlin-Stolberg and her wife Melissa of Millbury; two sons, James H. Stolberg III of Spring Hill, Kansas and Joseph N. Stolberg and his wife Charlene of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Doris Robidoux of Webster and Jean Woods and her husband George of Shrewsbury; 6 grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Katelyn, Adrianna, John, and Andrew; several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester and the daughter of the late Norman A. Blais and Rita E. (LeClair) Blais.
Bea was a long-time Millbury resident. She lived in Millbury from 1963 to 2009, when she moved to Shrewsbury Crossings, a senior living community. She returned to her beloved hometown in November 2012. Mrs. Stolberg was a member of Saint Brigid Parish of Millbury.
Bea attended Worcester South High School where she was a 3-sport athlete, playing field hockey, basketball, and softball. She played AAU softball and basketball in the late 1950's. Bea was a homemaker until her three children were grown. From 1996 to 2007, she worked at the Millbury Adult Day Health Care Center, preparing home cooked meals and snacks for program participants. Prior to that, for several years, she worked for Happy's Restaurant and Catering and taught swimming lessons to children at the Whitinsville Community Center. Bea loved cooking, walking, swimming, gardening, yard work, knitting, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Bea's funeral will be held on, Tuesday, Sept. 24th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main Street in Millbury. Burial will follow the Mass in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Sept. 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Millbury Health Care Center Activities Fund, 312 Millbury Avenue, Millbury, MA 01527.
