Bernard Gover

March 29, 1919 — January 28, 2006

MILLBURY Bernard R. Gover Sr., 86, of 317 Millbury Ave., died Saturday, Jan. 28th in his home, after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Mildred V. (Anderson) Gover: a son, Bernard R. Gover Jr. of Douglas; two daughters Patricia A. Hughes of Oxford and Pamela F. Gover of Douglas; two brothers, Russell Gover and Donald Gover of Millbury; four grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by two sisters, Vera Scott and Isabelle Provencher. He was born in Millbury, son of Exlaw and Alzena (White) Gover.

Mr. Gover was a millwright at Wyman-Gordon Co. in Worcester for 40 years, retiring in 1981 and also served on the companyTM)s fire department. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Millbury Fire Department, Engine #5, for 25 years and was a Navy veteran during WWII, serving as GunnerTM)s Mate Third Class. He was the Honored Old Timer at the 60th Reunion of the Millbury Old Timers Banquet in November and was a member of the Greendale Retired MenTM)s Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester.

BernardTM)s funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1st in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605 or to a charity of the donorTM)s choice.
