HOLDEN/AUBURN Boyden "Roy" E. Nordstrom, 84, died Saturday, May 28th in Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence in Worcester.
RoyTM)s wife, Helena D. (LaCava) Nordstrom died in 1985. He leaves, a son, Lt Col. David V. Nordstrom USAF Ret. of Alexandria, VA; six step-children, Barbara Gagne of Millbury, Janet DiPadua and her husband, Frank of Spencer, Sandra Witkes of North Oxford, Donald Atchue of Gardner, Albert Atchue and his wife, Diane of Spencer and Kenneth Atchue and his wife, Clara of Auburn; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Jumonville of Holden; many nieces and nephews. Roy was born in Holden and is predeceased by his parents, Albert V. and Helen (OTM)Connor) Nordstrom; two step-sons, Lawrence and Dennis Atchue; a brother, John and five sisters, Mildred LTM)Esperance, Gertrude Nelson, Marie Armstrong, Phyllis Packard and Hazel Radzawil.
Roy was raised and educated in Holden. Following graduation from Holden High School he entered the U.S. Army, serving during WW II. After returning home he met and married Helena. They moved their family to Holden, where they raised nine children. Roy worked as a Master Plumber, Town of Rutland Plumbing Inspector and for over 30 years at General Motors Framingham. In later life Roy enjoyed traveling with his kids and attending family events.
RoyTM)s funeral will be held on Friday, June 3rd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., in Millbury with a graveside service at 11 a.m. in All Faiths Cemetery, 7 Island Road in Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 2nd in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St, Worcester, MA 01604.
