GRAFTON/MILLBURY - Bradford Henry Sjoberg, 85 passed suddenly but peacefully at his home on Monday, January 7, 2019.
Brad or as he was affectionately known as “Papa” had a big heart and always wanted to make you smile and laugh. He loved to talk to anybody and everybody and always with a kind word and a smile.
Brad was born in Greenfield, MA and grew up in Grafton. He was the son of the late Harry and Hazel (Wiswald) Purrington and his adoptive parents Henry and Carrie (Allen) Sjoberg. He is predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy (Wojnarowski) Sjoberg, who were married for 56 years. Also predeceased by his brothers Everett and Carl Purrington.
Brad served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and married the love of his life while serving. Together they lived in England and had two of their five children there. After returning to the US, they spent most of their married life in Grafton before moving to Millbury.
Brad was a member of the Masons for over 50 years and worked at the now closed High Carbon Wire and the US Post Office before retiring.
After retirement, Brad and Dot loved to travel and were fortunate enough to see places many of us will only read about. When not traveling, Brad loved spending time with his kids and his grand and great grandchildren – always joking with them and making them laugh.
Never one to refuse a ride about town, he loved being out in the world and enjoying life. Brad spent many hours challenging himself with solving Sudoku puzzles and building jigsaw puzzles at the kitchen table.
Brad leaves behind his son Wayne Sjoberg, his wife Laurie and their children Jacob, Molly, Emma; Wayne’s older children Katie and Jeffrey and their children, Sarah, Aaron and Petra; his daughter Debra (Sjoberg) Paul and her husband Mark, their children Bryn and Reid of Vermont; his daughter Gail (Sjoberg) Lane and her husband Tom of Florida and Tom’s children and grandchildren of MA; his son Dale Sjoberg and his wife Linda, their children Glenn and Nathan of Millbury; and his daughter Laurie Sjoberg of Las Vegas. He also leaves his sister Shirley and her husband David of NY, and his sister-in-law, Gerre Wojnarowski of Las Vegas.
He will be missed by all whose life he touched with a smile, a nod, a wave and a chuckle. Cheerio Dad, we will miss you.
