Carl Opacki, 92, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Worcester Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Worcester.
His wife of 53 years, Frances A. (Trombowicz) Opacki, died in 1993. He leaves two daughters, Carlene F. Allard and her husband, Roland of South Hadley and Lorna J. Gilchrist of Spencer; a son, Edward R. Opacki and his wife, Linda of Worcester; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Doherty, Courtney Doell, and John, Jake and Jesse Gilchrist; 4 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Dominica (Colenda) Opacki and a son, Carl Opacki.
Mr. Opacki retired after 45 years from the former New England High Carbon Wire Co. in Millbury and then also retired from the Grafton School Department. He was a Navy veteran during WW II serving in the European African and Middle Eastern Theater. He was an avid Red Sox fan and was able to see them win the World Series in 2004. He was a very proud family man.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday morning, prior to the funeral Mass, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Goddard House, 1199 Main St., Worcester, MA 01603.
