MILLBURY – Carl E. Ward, 72, died Monday, May 5th in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Katherine M. (Murphy) Ward; three children, Carl J. Ward and his wife, Jennifer of Millbury, Ellen A. Ward of Worcester and Cynthia E. Margoupis and her husband, Jeff of Oxford; six grandchildren, Ryan, Emily, Brady, Lily, Kaitlyn and Kelcee. He was born in Springfield and is predeceased by his parents, Carl E. and Esther (Phoenix) Ward and a brother, Edward J. Ward.
Carl was a member of the Local Carpenters Union #33 of Boston. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany. He was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed cooking and bowling. Most of all he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting and other events. Carl's family would like to thank Dr. David Shepro and Michelle Proos NP and the staff at Eaton Place for their care and compassion, during his illness.
Carl's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial with military honors will be held in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 9th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Carl E. Ward Memorial Baseball Scholarship, in care of Millbury Savings Bank, 109 Elm St., Millbury, MA 01527.
