GRAFTON Carmen E. (Hartford) Guilmette, 71 of Grafton, died on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, with her devoted family at her side, at Farren Medical Center in Turner Falls, following a long illness.
She was born in Bangor, ME on August 21, 1938, the daughter of the late Winfred and Myrtle (Elston) Hartford. She was a 1956 graduate of Fitchburg High School.
Carmen was a homemaker who lovingly embraced her family all of her life. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, sewing, crocheting, knitting and craft projects. She loved music, having played the French horn in the school band and played piano and organ for many years. She enjoyed traveling including numerous trips to Arizona. She drove school bus for many years and worked for Allstate Insurance Company before retiring. She had been a Past Matron of Rachel Chapter #61, Order of the Eastern Star, in Grafton.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, the love of her life, Raymond A. Guilmette; her daughter Pamela Duel and her husband James of Mesa, AZ; her son Charles Guilmette and his wife Michele of Hopkinton; four grandchildren Bryant Guilmette and Eric Guilmette of Hopkinton, Nicholas Cargiulo and Raylene Cargiulo of Mesa, AZ. and one great grandson, Christian Cargiulo also of Mesa; her sister, Pamela (Hartford) Beaulac of Fitchburg; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother, Gene Hartford.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5th at 1:00 P.M. at Evangelical Congregational Church, where she had been a member since 1966, at 30 Grafton Common, Grafton with a committal service immediately following at Riverside Cemetery, Millbury St. in Grafton. There are no calling hours. Mulhane Home for Funerals in Millbury is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to the Evangelical Congregational Church. 30 Grafton Common, Grafton, MA. 01519.
