MILLBURY – Catherine J. "Katie" (O'Connell) Caron, 85, died Friday, May 4, 2012 surrounded by her family.
Her husband, E. John A. Caron died in 2002. She leaves two children, Patricia L. Wassell, and John H. Caron and his wife Christine, all of Millbury; 6 grandchildren, Joann and Sandra Moszcynski, Robert Wassell and his wife, Michelle, John H. Caron Jr. and his wife, Shannon, Crystal and Colleen Caron; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her parents, William D. and Helen "Nellie" (Maloney) O'Connell, a daughter, Kathleen Moszcynski, a granddaughter, Beth Moszcynski and three brothers, William, John and Edward O'Connell.
After high school Katie was a dental assistant for Parker Organization in Worcester from 1943 to 1948. She then worked for G.E. Telecron from 1963 to 1972 and then she worked in quality control at E.L.K.A.Y. in Shrewsbury from 1973 to 1985, before retiring. After retiring she volunteered with meals on wheels for the Millbury Council on Aging and was a warden at town elections in precinct #4. During WW II she was an Air Raid Warden and was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She was an avid Red Soxs fan.
Katie's funeral will be held Tuesday, May 8th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 7th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of the Millbury Health Care Center, 312 Millbury Ave, Millbury, MA 01527 or to the Friend's of the Millbury Seniors, 1 River St., Millbury, MA 01527.
