Catherine Eckland

MILLBURY/DUNEDIN, FL - Catherine Theresa (Shannon) Eckland, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday March 24, 2023. surrounded by family in Dunedin, Florida.

Cathy was born in Worcester on September 22, 1941. She leaves behind her devoted husband Robert Eckland, they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in June. Catherine leaves five daughters, Deborah (Joseph) D’Ambra of Snellville, GA, Cynthia (Gary) Curtis of Douglas, Paula (James) Nocchi and Heidi Lynn Eckland both of Millbury and Jill Eckland of NJ; her pride and joys, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Cathy also leaves her brother Paul Shannon and his wife Maureen of Centerville and sister Patricia Trapasso and family of Worcester.  Cathy leaves many cousins who she shared fond memories and always enjoyed seeing. She is predeceased by her son Timothy, grandson Robert, her father Paul Shannon, mother Madelyn and her stepfather Leo Donabedian.

Cathy loved her home in Florida, the Golden Acres community was an extended family where she participated in many outings and ‘wine thirty’. She enjoyed her trips to Hampton Beach, family gatherings, cruising, playing canasta, and her PIG outings.

Cathy loved children. She worked in the cafeteria at Millbury Memorial High School and was a supervisor at the Elmwood Street Elementary after school program.

Family and friends are invited to remember Cathy’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Tuesday, April 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 5th at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury.  Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
