MILLBURY - Cecil J. Murray, 87, of 300 West Main St., died Sunday, Feb. 24, in his home, after being stricken ill.
His wife, Gladys E. (Paine) Murray died in 1983. He leaves a daughter, Cheryl R. Castek of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Edith L. Watkins of Millbury, Muriel Downer of Charlton and Shirley Downer of Allendale, Fla.; three grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Lorne Murray. He was born in New Brunswick, Canada, son of Alonzo E. and Fannie E. (Ward) Murray and has lived in West Millbury most of his life. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1933.
Mr. Murray was a machine operator for many years, at Reed Rolled Thread Die Co. in Holden, before retired.
He was the chairman of the trustees of the West Millbury Union Chapel, a member of the Millbury Historical Society and a former member of Christian Endeavor Society in New England. He was an avid gardener and spent his winter in Florida, with his daughter.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, in West Millbury Union Chapel, West Main St. Burial will be in West Millbury Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St.. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Millbury Union Chapel P.O. Box 7, Millbury, Ma. 01527.
