SUTTON - Charles J. Carlson, 87, of 29 Singletary Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 25, in Radius HealthCare Center for Millbury.
He leaves his wife of 63 years, Phyllis M. (Marsh) Carlson; a son Charles Mark Carlson with whom he lived; nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Wilfred and Leonard Carlson and four sisters, Hilma Army, Anna Moore, Edith Adams and Eleanor Levasseur predeceased him. He was born in Sutton, son of Fred and Maria (Hendrickson) Carlson and has lived here all his life.
Mr. Carlson family owned and operated a dairy farm on Uxbridge Road in Sutton for many years. He also worked for many years at Svea Baking Co. in Millbury and Wyman Gordon Co. in Worcester and at Hayward Schuster Linen Mills in Douglas and he was a wire drawer at New England High Carbon Wire Company, before he retiring in 1979. He was a constable for the town of Sutton for many years and also raised champion Beagle dogs.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sutton and a lifetime member and one of the founding fathers of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club in Oxford, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed all outdoor activities.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, (

). Burial will be private. Memorial calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity.
