SUTTON - Charles H. Gravelin, 91, of 290 Boston Road, died Sunday, Aug. 19, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Martha C. (Cogswell) Gravelin; three daughters, Charlene G. Doucette of North Bridgton, Maine, Nancy G. Brigham of Sutton and Marcia C. Rosebrooks of Oxford; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Griswold, Ct., son of Mitchel and Clara (Kupper) Gravelin and has lived in Sutton most of his life. He attended Sutton Schools.
Mr. Graveline was superintendent at Purgatory State Park where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1978. Previously to this he worked in construction. There is a mile trail a Purgatory State Park, that was named CharlieTM)s Loop, after Mr. Gravelin, after he retired.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church. His interest were the love of animals and birds, repairing small engines and working in the wood lot.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery. A calling hour will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday Aug. 22, in the funeral home . Memorial contributions may be made to Organ Fund of the First Congregational Church, 312 Boston Rd., Sutton, Ma. 01527.
