MILLBURY – Charlotte I. (McDermott) Whiterell, 81, of Wheelock Ave, where she lived from the age of six years old, died Thursday, June 26th in Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston.
Her husband of 32 years, Irving J. Whiterell, died in 1977. She leaves three children, Linda M. Stevens and her husband George of Gorham, ME, John "Jack" J. Whiterell and his wife Susan of Millbury and Judy A. Gabriele of Jamestown, RI; five grandchildren; a great grandson; nieces and nephews. She was born in Dudley and is predeceased by her parents Stephen and Clara (Lyon) McDermott; a sister Shirley Hamilton and two brothers, Kenneth and Clifford McDermott. She attended Millbury High School.
Charlotte worked for Lewcott Corp. in Millbury as an Office Administrator, retiring in 1992. She previously worked for Bancroft AAA in Worcester as a membership manager from 1963 to 1973 and then at Snyder Brothers in Millbury as a personnel manager from 1974 to 1979. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester and a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28th in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. There are no calling hours. Mulhane Home for Funerals in Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
