SUTTON – Christine E. Pearson, 51, died Saturday, Nov. 14th, at her childhood home surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.
She leaves her husband, Raymond W. Lyko Jr.; her father, Rudolph E. Pearson of Sutton; two sons, Jesse L. Kirkpatrick and his wife Valerie of Washington, D.C. and Jacob M. Kirkpatrick and his long time partner, Allyson Turner of Washington, D.C. ; a grandson, Elijah S. Kirkpatrick; two sisters, Marie E. and her husband Thomas Rochon of Douglas and Nancy and her husband Kevin Murnane of Sutton; three brothers, David E. Pearson, Benjamin E. and his wife Leah Pearson and Andrew E. Pearson all of Sutton; eight nephews and nieces, and innumerable friends and colleagues. Chris had a very special love for her grandson, Elijah, who always brought her happiness and joy. She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her mother, Amelia E. (Leyh) Pearson. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1976 and then received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Christine was an intake supervisor at Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc., where she had worked for 25 years. Her interests included world travel, literature, poetry, hiking, natural history, and gardening. Always musical, she played piano and sang since childhood. Her compassion for others led Christine to commit her life to the pursuit of peace and justice.
Her calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Her funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21st in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd. on the common in Sutton. Burial will be in private.
