Claire Despres

MILLBURY – Claire A. (McShane) Despres, 60, passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 28th after a brief illness in Tufts Medical Center.

Claire leaves her husband of 37 years, Scott J. Despres; five sons, Neil (Meg), Glenn (Yvette), Ryan (Elizabeth), Owen (Kat) and Gary Despres; five grandchildren, Diana, Irene, James, Graham and Fox; five brothers, William (Judi), Martin (Amber), Robert (Anne), Mark (Lisa) and John (Susanne) McShane; a sister, Diane (Michael) Lents; a sister in law, Mary McShane; many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents, William and Kathleen (Fahey) McShane and a brother, Kevin McShane.

Claire was a second-grade teacher at the Assumption School in Millbury.  She was a member of both the Millbury Women’s Club and Friends of the Millbury Public Library, an Irish step dance teacher and a long time Cub Scout leader.  Claire was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church where she was a member of the choir. She worked for My Choice Programs as a shared living provider and respite worker. She was most proud to be a grandmother.

Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Claire’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, July 2nd from 2 to 5 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

Her funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, July 3rd at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters Street in Millbury.  Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.

Those attending the funeral service are asked to go directly to church.
