MILLBURY Daniel F. Donovan Jr., 88, of 72 Main St., died Sunday, Jan. 28th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Alice A. (Liubauskas) Donovan, a son and three daughters; Daniel F. Donovan III of Leicester, Mary Beth Hammond of Hingham, Christine Blaustein of Great Falls, Virginia and Martha OTM)Connor of Holden. He was born in Millbury, son of Daniel F. Donovan Sr. and Marion (Cullina) Donovan. He lived in Millbury his entire life. He attended the College of the Holy Cross, class of 1940.
Mr. Donovan owned and operated DonovanTM)s Ice Cream in Millbury for 40 years before retiring in 1984. In 1960, he opened a second DovovanTM)s Ice Cream in Shrewsbury. He was an Air Force veteran, serving in Europe during WW II in the 9th Division. He served as a corporator of the Millbury Savings Bank since 1963 and was a member of the Millbury Historical Society. Mr. Donovan was an accomplished pianist and after his retirement, traveled extensively with his wife Alice, visiting all of the major cities of Europe.
His memorial calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31st in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1st in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be private. Charitable contributions may be made to the Auburn District Nursing Association 191 Pakachoag Street Auburn, MA 01501.
