David W. Taylor, 61, went home to his Lord Sunday April 5, 2015, after a courageous battle with ocular melanoma.

He leaves his wife, Kathleen S. Taylor of Millbury; a son, Anthony L. Taylor and his wife Jacqueline, and a daughter Holly Taylor, both of Mahopac NY as well as 2 grandsons, Anthony J. "AJ" Taylor and Troy D. Garcia. Two sisters; Ann Kelm and her husband Edwin of Sebring, FL, and Heather Graziano of Millbury MA. An Aunt, Margaret Short of Yorktown Heights NY, and nieces and nephews.

David was a member of the Millbury Federated Church, graduated from Mahopac High School in NY, and attended Dutchess Community College in NY. He drove tractor trailers before becoming a firefighter for the Castle Point VA Hospital in Castle Point NY, ultimately retiring in 1987 due to the loss of his eyesight. Despite the challenges life dealt to him, it did not stop him from embracing life to its fullest. His most rewarding endeavor was being a Life Member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department with 45 years of service, serving as both President of the department and chaplain. "With Pride We Serve"

His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 12th in the Millbury Federated Church at 20 Main Street in Millbury. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private with his family in Oak Hill Cemetery in Sterling MA.

In lieu of flowers, David requested donations to be made to either the Millbury Federated Church Food Pantry at 20 Main Street Millbury MA 01527 or to Dr. Rizwan Haq's Melanoma Cancer Research Fund c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor Brookline MA 02445.
