FLORIDA – David L. Young 76, of Clearwater Florida, passed away on March 28th in his home, in Florida.
David was born in Millbury, MA son of the late Robert J. and Thelma E. (Theberge) Young. David was also predeceased in death by his wife of 47 years, JoAnn L. (Foss) Young and his brothers, Eugene G. Young and Donald R. Young. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Brennan of Nashua, New Hampshire; a grandson, Adam J. Devine and his wife, Virginia, two great grandchildren, David Devine and JoAnn Elizabeth Devine all of Auburn, Maine; a brother, Robert J. Young of Millbury, MA and two nieces; a sister-in law, Kristina Hickman of Milford, NH; brothers-in-law, Clifford Foss of Clinton, MA, Dwight Foss of Fitchburg, MA and Roger Foss of Spencer, MA.
David was a graduate of Millbury Memorial High School, Northeastern University and obtained a master’s degree in public administration from Clark University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
David has over 25 years of law enforcement experience, beginning as a Patrol Officer for the town of Shrewsbury, MA and retired as Chief of Police of the town of Stoughton, MA in 1995. He retired as a Criminal Justice Specialist for the Pinellas County Florida Sherriff’s in 2018. He was active in the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association and was President of the association from 1991-1992.
To honor and remember David, his calling hours will be held from 10 am until Noon with a funeral service at Noon on Monday, April 5th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St. in Millbury, MA. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury, MA at which time JoAnn’s and Eugene’s urns will be interred with David in the family cemetery lot.
