David "Mike" Ducharme

MILLBURY – David E. “Mike” Ducharme, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 14th, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Millbury, the 11th child of 12 to John and Alma (Budreau) Ducharme. David graduated from Millbury High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharge in 1960.  Returning to Millbury, he married his loving wife of 57 years, Harriet Hamilton in 1964. David worked as a mail carrier at the Millbury Post Office for over 40 years, retiring in 2005.

David is survived by his wife, Harriet (Hamilton) Ducharme and children, Marybeth Ducharme of Millbury and John D. Ducharme and his wife Lisa of Ashland; a sister Patricia Maloney of Odenton, Maryland.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Matthew, Michael, and Isabela, as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his six brothers Bernard, John “Duke”, Robert, Richard, Peter, and Donald. His four sisters, Lucille Roberts, Shirley Larkham, Dorothy Caika, and Carol Plamondon. He is also predeceased by an infant daughter, Anne Marie.

David enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing, and hunting. Going to Aruba every February with his friends and family, Janet and Everett, Bob and Ginny, and Tommy and Betty for over 20 years. He loved playing cards with friends and going to the casinos and Las Vegas. He and his wife delivered Meals on Wheels in Millbury for over 5 years.  Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all who love him. Rest In Peace until we meet again. The family would like to thank his nurse, Dennis of JHC Hospice, for all his care of David.

David’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Jan. 20th at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters Street in Millbury.  Burial will be private.  Face masks will be required in the church.
