MILLBURY Delia Marie (Cournoyer) Salois, 100, a life long resident of Millbury, died Saturday, Dec. 15th at Radius Health Care Center.
Her husband, Antonio Salois died in 1987. She was the daughter of the late Pierre and Rosalie (Casse) Cournoyer. She is survived by two sons, Paul Salois and his wife Sarah of Sandwich and Raymond Salois and his wife Pauline of Pembroke Pines, FL; three daughters, Gloria Boire of Millbury, Lorraine Wahtola and her husband William of Hyannis and Pauline Ducharme Salois with whom she lived in Millbury; 30 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by a son, Ronald Salois whose wife Gail is a Millbury resident and a daughter, Claire Chastain, who resided in Florida.
Delia was lovingly known by many as "Memere". She loved to knit Afghans and baby blankets, however she was most famous for her home made apple pies and banana breads. There were no strangers to her, all were welcome in her home. She loved to play a card game known as pitch. Having her family visit was one of her favorite pastimes.
Delia, was a very spiritual person, who enjoyed reading her bible, attending Mass, prayer meetings and listing and singing Christian music. She will be remembered as a caring and loving woman, who lived for her family and the Lord. Delia was loved by all and will be missed by all her family and many friends.
Her funeral will be held Friday, Dec. 21st from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 10 Waters St., Millbury. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Assumption Elementary School in care of the Our Lady of the Assumption Rectory at 12 Waters St., Millbury, MA 01527.
