WEBSTER - Dennis J "Jerry" Catino Sr., 70, formerly of Worcester and Millbury, passed away, Friday, February 28, 2014 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Sharon L. (Heath) Catino; his mother, Dorothy (Childs) Catino of Worcester; two daughters, AnnMarie Gould and her husband George of Worcester, Laurie Johnston and her husband Scott of Barre; two sons, Dennis J. Catino Jr. and his wife RaeAnn and William J. Catino both of Worcester; a stepson Eddie Campbell and his wife Erica of California, a step daughter Michelle Campbell of Auburn; four brothers, Joseph, Michael, Robert and Ronald; a sister, Sharon Catino;12 adored grandchildren, Amanda, Brian, Anthony, Kaitlyn, Joseph, Nathan, Dylan, Chrystal, Matthew, Jianna, Caitlynn and Tyler and a great grandchild due this fall. He is predeceased by his father, Joseph Catino, a stepson, Christopher Campbell and a grandson Jason Baroni.
Dennis was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Dorothy (Childs) Catino. He grew up in Worcester, graduating from Saint Stephen's High School and later served in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War era. He was a crew chief on a B 52 bomber. He always had a love of flying. In 1967 Mr. Catino started the Dennis J. Catino Trucking Company and was the owner and operator of this company for 46 years before retiring in the fall of 2013. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed his trips to Florida. He looked forward every spring to planting his garden. He loved meeting up with friends at Dunkin Donuts to talk about trucks, classic cars, the weather, and family. He loved taking walks with his best buddy, his beloved dog Snickers.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother, and his family will always remember Dennis as an incredibly hard worker and a dedicated family man.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 pm in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the ASPCA at aspca.org/donate.
