Donald G. Ellstrom, 83, died on Wednesday, November 12th at St. Francis Nursing Home in Worcester.
Donald leaves his wife of 60 years, Gertrude (Kosciuczyk) Ellstrom; two sons, Michael Ellstrom and his wife, Patricia of Key West, FL and Thomas Ellstrom of Millbury; two nephews and six nieces. Donald was born in Worcester to George and Olive (Boucher) Ellstrom. He is predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Ceccarini and a brother George Ellstrom.
Donald was active with sports in the town of Millbury, coaching youth basketball for many years, playing softball in the Senior Softball League and golfing in the Monday Night League at Clearview Country Club. Donald retired from Wyman-Gordon's in 1992, after which he enjoyed more golfing, reading and watching his Red Sox's and Patriot's. He was also a member of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post 3329 in Millbury. Donald was proud to be a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Korean War and was a member of the Chosen Few.
Donald's funeral service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15th at 11 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury.
His calling hours will be held before the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Central Cemetery in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alternatives Unlimited Inc., 60 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA 01588. Alternatives Unlimited is a human service agency that works with adults with disabilities.
