Donald C. Willoughby, 70, passed away on January 19th at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Don was born in Worcester, the only child of Frank and Evelyn (King) Willoughby. He graduated from the former Classical High School in Worcester and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1968 with a BBA in marketing.
In 1963, Don met the love of his life, Patricia A. (Lague) Willoughby. They were married for 47 years.
In addition to his wife, Don leaves his three children and nine grandchildren. Amy Willoughby McGonigal and her husband, Kyle and their four children, Greg, Aidan, Hailey and Brady of Maryland. Julie Willoughby Dow and her husband, Brad and their three children, Emma, Molly and Hunter of Texas.
James Willoughby and his fiancé Lisa Zappa and Jim's two children form a previous marriage James Jr. and Alison. He also leaves his two sister in laws, Linda Bond of Worcester and Dorothy Siderski and husband, Frank of West Boylston plus nieces and nephews.
Don worked for over forty years in the insurance industry. He retired as an Executive Vice President of the Protector Group in 2012.
He was active in Freemasonry and served two terms as Master of Morning Star Lodge in Worcester and Junior Warden of Rose of Sharon Lodge.
After retirement, Pat and Don enjoyed many trips to the Caribbean, Japan, Disney and throughout the United States, visiting with family. He also loved weekends at Drakes Island in Maine.
Don's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6th at 4 p.m. in All Saints Church, 10 Irving Street in Worcester. There are no calling hours and burial will be private.
