Doris Murray

April 1, 1913 — March 15, 2008

MILLBURY / NORTHBRIDGE - Doris L. (Moe) Murray, 94, formerly of South Main St. Millbury and of West Millbury, who now resided at Whitney Place in Northbridge, died Saturday, March 15th in the Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northbridge.

Her husband, Robert S. Murray died in 2000. She leaves three sons, Richard W. Murray and his wife Winifred of Holden, Jeffrey S. Murray and his wife Kathleen of Hartford, Maine and Douglas A. Murray and his wife Donna of Windham, NH; a brother, Donald Moe of Millbury; a sister, Olive Gallant of Auburn; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents, Philip and Signe (Olson) Moe three sisters, Phyllis Farnstrom, Laura Fulton and Edna Douglass, two brothers, Warren and Arthur Moe. She lived her earlier years on Pleasant Valley Farm in Sutton and attended Sutton schools, graduating from Sutton High school in 1929.

Mrs. Murray was a secretary at American Steel & Wire Company in Worcester and then at C.D. Whitney Insurance in Millbury before retiring in 1975. She was an active member of the Millbury Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was passionate about her efforts in the mission work of the Millbury Baptist Church, serving on the Missions Board and the Christian Education Department. Her favorite hobby was attending yard sales and flea markets. Doris enjoyed reading and baking and was a volunteer at the Millbury Senior Center in Millbury.

Her Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30th in the Millbury Baptist Church, Main St. in Millbury. There are no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Millbury Baptist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 222, Millbury, MA 01527 or to the Susan G. Kolmen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244. Mulhane Home for Funeral, 45 Main St. in Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
