Dorothy Howe

September 13, 1925 — January 10, 2009

MILLBURY - Dorothy L. (Lloyd) Howe, formerly of West Hartford, Connecticut passed away on January 10th, 2009 at the home of her daughter Mary "Lisa" Mamishian, son-in-law Michael V. Mamishian and adored granddaughter Allison H. Mamishian. Dorothy also leaves behind her son Charles L. Howe of Schenectady, New York and grandsons Adam and Conrad Howe of Niskayuna, New York. Dorothy's husband, Dr. George O. Howe preceded her in death in 1993.

The only child of Blanche and Edwin Lloyd, Dorothy was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, attending Denver University. She met and married George while he was a medical student, settling in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, eventually working and retiring as a loan officer from Fleet Bank in 1987. She centered her life around family, becoming a PTA school member, Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, and Little League scorekeeper, assisting her husband who served as Town Coach for many years. Dorothy's passion for local level politics grew alongside her family, culminating in elected positions as Selectwoman for the town of West Hartford, Town Moderator, President of the Women's Republican Committee and for a time, a delegate to the Republican Connecticut State Conventions.
When we think of Dorothy Howe, we will remember a strong-willed, intelligent woman armed with dry wit that always put family first.
