MILLBURY – Dorothy M. (Finn) McInerney, 80, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, May 4th at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
She leaves her loving husband of 58 years, Donald T. McInerney; a son, Kevin McInerney and his wife Cathy of Millbury; three daughters, Gayle Holland of Hopkinton, Lynda Pacheco and her husband David of Tiverton, RI and Nancy Buffone and her late husband John, who passed away on May 3rd 2010 of Grafton; ten grandchildren, Keri, Bess, Angela, Melissa, Avery, Zackery, Benjamin, Ellery, Maxx and Grace; four great-granddaughters, Kylie, Victoria, Maeve and Rowan; a sister, Joan Zalesky and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Northhampton and is predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Hannah (Sheehan) Finn; two sisters, Eleanore Finn and Kathryn Thibault and a brother, Daniel Finn.
Dorothy graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked for many years for Catholic Charities, as a Registered Nurse, at Green Island Neighborhood Center. She was a member of the Millbury Women's Club, the Red Hat Society and she taught CCD at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for many years. Dorothy loved to travel with her husband, especially to Ireland and she enjoyed swimming regularly with her dear friends, at the YWCA. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Dorothy's funeral will be held Tuesday, May 11th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. Burial will be at St. Philip's Cemetery in Grafton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 10th in the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, 460 Totten Pond Rd., Waltham, MA, 02451.
