HOPKINTON - Edith “Fran” F. (O’Neill) Pierce, born in Millbury, Massachusetts, to the late John W. and Helen (Davidson) O'Neill, passed away at age 91 on May 29, 2018 surrounded by her family, at Saint Mary Health Care Center in Worcester.
Fran was the beloved wife of the late Henry J Pierce. Fran is survived by her son, Eric H. Pierce and his wife Cecilia (Allain) Couture- Pierce of Sutton, one grandchild, one great grandchild, her sister, Clara “Sis” (O'Neill) Agar and husband Ray Agar of Maine, many nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara (O'Neill) Vielle of Millbury and her brother, James O'Neill of Spokane, WA.
Fran graduated from Millbury High School class of 1944 and a post graduate from Girls Trade High School in 1946 as a hairdresser.
For many years, Fran and her family loved their happy place of going to the beach and spending time on Block Island, RI. She thoroughly enjoyed her hobbies of painting and decorating bird houses and all types of wooden crafts, sewing, reading, and bingo. Her passion was hairdressing. Once she retired she would go to the homes of some of her elderly friends to fix their hair and make them feel good!
She also loved going to musicals, shopping, and spending time with her family was very important. She was also a member of Summit Elder Care, Worcester before entering St. Mary Healthcare Center.
Fran was very involved in her community where she was a member of Faith Community Church in Hopkinton (the former First Congregational Church of Hopkinton) and a choir member for 25 years. She was a Hostess at Christian Women’s Club of Metrowest and Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Chapter 82 in Marlboro.
The family would like to thank everyone at St. Mary Health Care Center and Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts for their kind, loving and compassionate care for Fran and involving her family. They are extremely grateful!
Family and friends will honor and remember Fran’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, June 3rd from 4 to 6 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
Her graveside service, officiated by Sr. Annette Allain, LSA, will be celebrated on Monday, June 4th at 1 p.m. in Central Cemetery, West Street in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Health Care Center, c/o Finance Office, 39 Queen St., Worcester, MA 01610 or to the Little Sisters of the Assumption, 475 E. 115 St., 1st Floor, New York, NY 10029.
