PITTSFIELD - Edith I. (Hall) Stewart, 83, of 27 Partridge Rd., formerly of Sutton, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Berkshire Medical Center, after a short illness.
Her husband, Walter Stewart, died in 1980. She leaves two daughters, Gloria E. Stewart of Elburn, Illinois and Carolyn A. Benscoter of Windsor; a sister, Margaret A. Tamutis of Cherry Valley; a grandson; Erik S. Benscoter; nephews and nieces. A son, Robert A. Stewart died in 1995. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Albert and Christina (Bengtson) Hall and has lived in Pittsfield for many years.
Mrs. Stewart was a nurse at then Pittsfield General Hospital and also did private duty nursing in Pittsfield. She was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in the First Congregational Church, 312 Boston Rd., on the Common, Sutton. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury.
