Edward King

d. December 10, 2017

Edward Perry King, 71, died with dignity on December 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. King was born the eldest son of M. Marthena King and the late Edward S. King of Sutton and grandson of the late Eunice Perry King, Arthur E. King, Ethel Woodbury and Wallace F. King of Sutton. He leaves behind his two daughters, Laura E. King of Portland, ME and Kathleen A. King of Boston, MA, and his partner, Joyce DiPasquale of Auburn. Mr. King is also survived by his sister, Cynthia E. Vanderlinden, and her husband, Robert E., his brother Terry A. King, and his wife, Cindy, of Sutton. He was the proud uncle of Danielle M. and David S. Ferreira of Sutton, Britney B. King and Jon Reilly of San Francisco, CA, Joshua P. King of Nazareth, PA and Jairus P. King of Sutton, great uncle of Lindsey E. and Ryan D. Ferreira of Sutton and Morrison P. Reilly of San Francisco, CA and nephew of the Reverend David S. King and the late Stanton W. Putnam of Boston, MA. Mr. King leaves behind many cousins and lifetime friendships.

Mr. King was a graduate of Sutton High School (1964) and was inducted into the Sutton Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. He graduated from Worcester State College and went on to become a teacher and a basketball coach at Hopedale High School. However, he found his true passion in real estate in 1977 and continued his career in real estate for 40 years as broker and owner of Century 21 King & King. This allowed him to help shape the community he loved, while meeting people from all walks of life as they moved to and within the Blackstone Valley.

Mr. King was a great story-teller who loved to laugh and could light up a room with his smile. He enjoyed attending car shows, country fairs, horse shows, and basketball tournaments. As a lifetime resident of Sutton, he was actively engaged in the affairs of the town. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Sutton, a former organist at the West Sutton Baptist Church, and a man of deep personal faith. Above all, Mr. King was loyal to his friends and family and was a proud father. His warmth, humor and positive attitude will be missed.

Family and friends will honor and remember Perry’s life by gathering for calling hours on Wednesday, Dec. 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.

His funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 14th at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Sutton, 307 Boston Road.  Burial will be private.
