MILLBURY - Edward J. "Red" Weldon, 91, of 20 Linda Ave., died Thursday, Jan. 23 in SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Millbury.
His wife, of 62 years, Hazel I. (Dwinell) Weldon died in 2000. He leaves a daughter, Kathleen Newcomer of Leicester; a son, Donald E. Weldon of Northbridge; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, George Weldon and three sisters, Eleanor Perry, Gertrude Weldon and Marion Lawless, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of James P. and Mary M. (Johnson) Weldon and has lived in Millbury since 1939. He attended the former Commerce High School in Worcester.
Mr. Weldon worked in the purchasing department of Coz Chemical, a division of Allied Products, in Northbridge from 1967 to 1987, when he retired. He previously was a supervisor at the electric cable division of U.S. Steel Company in Worcester, where he worked for 33 years.
He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church and the Whitinsville Golf Club in Whitinsville. He was an avid sportsman.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., (

) with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Auburn District Nursing Assoc., 191 Pakachoag St., P.O. Box 4, Auburn, Ma. 01501.
