WORCESTER- Eileen (Stewart) O'Connor, 82, passed away December 1st at her home on Vernon Hill after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Her husband Joseph Francis O'Connor died in 1976. She leaves a daughter Elizabeth O'Connor of Milton, a son Robert and his wife Maryjane (Michaud) O'Connor of Worcester, a son Paul and his wife Holly (Lasusa) O'Connor of Chicago, IL and a daughter Jane and her husband Jeff Crouth of Glenview, IL as well as two granddaughters, seven grandsons and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. O'Connor was born in Millbury on November 24, 1927 and was raised on Brierly Pond in Bramanville. She is predeceased by her parents Andrew McClinton Stewart and Eliza Jane (Richardson) Stewart, three brothers Walter, Andrew and James Stewart, a sister Jane Mulhane and a son-in-law James Lynch. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1945 where she played on the basketball team. Upon graduation she worked as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone Company until her marriage on April 6, 1953. Eileen lived many years on Vernon Street where she raised four children.
She will be remembered for her strength of character, life-long friends and love of life. Eileen always maintained a sense of humor and the ability to look on the bright side of even the worst situations.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 8th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Rt. 122A, in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 8th in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St in Millbury. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
