Ellen Mita

ROCKIE HILL, CT - Ellen A. (Hamilton) Mita, formerly of Millbury, MA, died peacefully at home, at 91 years old.

She leaves three children, Christine Sylvain and her husband, Charles of Newington, CT, Stephen Mita and his wife Cheryl of Worcester, MA, and Susan Mita and her partner, Mila Jane Wilson of East Hampton, NY; grandchildren, Courtney and her husband, Brian Verderosa of East Hartford, CT, Maximillian Mita, Zofia Mita and Mallory Ward; life-long friend, Pauline Cantone formally of North Adams, MA and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

She was born and grew up in Millbury and graduated from Millbury High School in 1943. She previously worked as a private secretary at the Felter's Company in Millbury. She reluctantly moved to Worcester following her marriage to her husband, William Mita, who died in 2003. As a result of job changes for her husband, it required that she reside in Burlington, MA, East Lyme, CT, Powell, TN, New Bedford, MA and Rocky Hill, CT. She remained committed to Millbury, it was her home and she has now come full circle. Throughout her many years she made and retained strong friendships wherever she lived and was ultimately loved by family, friends, neighbors and caregivers.

Ellen was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Gallagher) Hamilton, her husband William Mita, brothers, William and John Hamilton, sisters Mary C. Mazeika and Sarah E. Magill, and a granddaughter Leah E. Sylvain.

A special thank you is extended to her private caregivers, Kathy and Ciara Lundell, Lauren Charles and Evette Ward of Caregivers by Kathy, who enabled Ellen to remain in her home receiving the care, attention and love she so truly deserved.

Her funeral will be held, Wednesday Jan. 25th from Mulhane Home for Funerals 45 N. Main St. in Millbury, MA with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main St. in Millbury, MA. Calling hours are 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, in the funeral home prior to the Funeral Mass.
