Ellen Norton

Ellen T. Norton, 90, died Friday, April 22nd at Care One in Millbury.

She leaves her sister, Rosemary Norton of Millbury; four nieces; one nephew; 8 grandnieces; nine grandnephews; two great grandnieces and two great grandnephews. She was a life-long resident of Millbury and is predeceased by her parents, John W. and Nellie V. (Faron) Norton, a sister, Ann Adams; two brothers, Arthur A. Norton and Francis W. Norton and two nieces Katherine and Patricia.

Ellen graduated from Millbury High School, class of 1943. She then graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1945. Her next 40 years were spent in private duty nursing and working as a nurse and supervisor at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. She was a member of the St. Vincent's Alumni Association, the Worcester Diocesan Council of Catholic Nurses, the Friday Afternoon Club, the Guild of Our Lady of Providence, the AARP Chapter 2559, the Friends of the Millbury Public Library, the former Millbury-Sutton Church Women United, The Millbury Historical Society and the Millbury Women's Club. She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend of many. She will be greatly missed.

Her funeral will be held Monday, April 25th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 24th in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St. Boston, MA 02210.
